Erin R. White
IT enthusiast, web UI designer, Information Science student, Tar Heel.
I am really into computers
I've been building websites since 1998. Since then I've delved into PHP, AJAX, and Ruby on Rails, learned to develop standards-compliant web interfaces for multiple (finicky) browsers, and done some client consulting. I've also done freelance web and graphic design work since 2003.
This past year I've taken courses in IT and systems and worked for our school's IT Helpdesk. As lab manager, I've gained experience administering regular backups, an Oracle Database, a flock of Vista lab PCs, and four lovely iMacs. I also order staples.

I do other things, too
During my time at the University of Georgia, I worked for all four years at WUOG 90.5fm, first as a DJ, then as webmaster, Publications Director, and finally General Manager. I also earned degrees in sociology and journalism.
As of August 2007, I'm pursuing a Master's degree in Information Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. I am the Vice President of our chapter of ASIS&T, webmaster and social chair (!) of our Student Association, and co-chair of our college's GLBTQ organization, checkedOUT. I'm writing my master's paper about students' perceptions of Information Science's connection to the Library Science curriculum. If all goes as planned, I'll be graduating in May, 2009.
I spend too much quality time with the internet
